We are really excited to introduce you to a very special project that we have been working on for the past few months together with the very talented visual artist Amalija Andersone. A wallpaper and wall mural collection that captures the essence of landscapes, animals and flora of the African continent, introducing bold African prints and bright colors to our daily lives. For this collection, we wanted to work with someone who shares the same vision for art and someone who is truly passionate about the process of creating something special and meaningful, which we definitely saw in Amalija, before we even got to work together. A person that creates stories inspired by travels, the beautiful and endlessly diverse world, culture and people.
Once our vision for the collection was set in stone and we received the first sketches of the pattern designs created in places that truly resonate the artists visuals, our collaborative collection “Mama Africa” was born.
The collaborative collection is divided into three sections - wallpaper, kids wallpaper and wall mural collections, each of them featuring exclusive African art decor pieces made especially for Livette's Wallpaper. You will find designs celebrated by African traditions and rich culture - featuring vibrant colors, exotic animals and botanics, tribal wallpaper prints and intricate patterns.
One of the more neutral designs within the collection is our Tribal Masks Pattern Wallpaper, which reveals earthy tone hand drawn tribal masks that are a representation of an ancient symbol for African culture. This particular wallpaper design has its playfulness, which would look great in a muted interior, even a nursery, as shown in the photo.
For this collection, Amalija chose a color palette that is drawn from the natural landscape: from earthy brown tones that represent the earth, soil and grounding to vibrant greens of forests and exotic plants that are associated with growth and harmony. In result, a creation of wallpaper patterns that combine bold colors and perfectly complements the vibrancy of traditional African culture.
The rich and diverse culture of Africa would not be possible without its people. It is a continent, shaped by thousands of years of history, traditions that have influenced art, music, fashion, and more across the world. This particular colorful abstract wall mural with the name Mama Africa is inspired by the beauty of African culture, which Amalija wanted to showcase throughout the whole collection, by highlighting elements that are fascinating and exotic to the world. Portraits that are deeply inspired from traveling are one of Amalijas signature works of art and a world full of colors and beauty can be found everywhere. “As a child, I read fairy tales about foreign exotic lands, archaeologists, travelers and princesses. Now I continue to live these stories - by painting them” Amalija, surrounded by the vivid colors and nature of Africa, remembers.
