Welcome to week 4 of the One Room Challenge - the final reveal! After weeks of planning, prepping and installing, it is time to share the finished product of my kitchen nook. In this blog post, I am revealing the freshly installed kitchen backsplash along with all the thoughtfully curated decor piece styling. Let's dive into the transformation and reveal the tiny kitchen nook of my dreams!
The moment, where all the carefully selected design elements from
Week 2 finally come together in the space.
From the natural wood cutting board and the olive oil dispenser to the white ceramic vase filled with fresh eucalyptus, every element plays a part in creating that warm, Mediterranean-inspired feel I was going for. Each piece adds a layer of texture and personality that ties in beautifully with the
backsplash. Such a rewarding feeling knowing that each selected decoration plays well together and creates a cosy and curated feel.
One small but impactful change I made during styling was updating the cabinet handles. In
Week 1 of the One Room Challenge, I was planning on installing gold ones, however, as the design came together, it became clear that the gold won't work. With all the appliances in black, and the sink and tap in a silver/metal finish, I went with black handles. This choice complimented the existing elements best and made the space feel more balanced.
Here’s a look at one of my favourite DIY moments from this makeover - I turned these beautiful Livette's
printed fabric samples into custom tea towels. The
Latte Stripes Printed Fabric and
Minimal Olive Lines Design Printed Fabric, as seen in the photo above, not only bring in a subtle pattern and colour, but also feel very Mediterranean style. With just a few simple stitches along the edges, I transformed them into charming tea towels that perfectly complement the new backsplash.
Adding the final touches - these DIY towels I made with printed fabric samples make the space feel more cosy. Just a small detail, but one that makes the kitchen feel much more personal and finished.
The reveal! This moment feels so rewarding! Seeing the kitchen nook come together in the past few weeks feels incredibly satisfying. The new
Geometric Wooden Tile Design backsplash adds a unique touch to the space, especially as it is a rental. The layered styling elements add warmth and charm. It's amazing what a few updates and personal touches can do. Wrapping up this
One Room Challenge feels both surreal and so fulfilling. Thank you for following along!
